Maria Slack

Founder, Artistic Director & Producer

Hello all! My vision for MProductiontime2show is to bring people together.

Maria Slack, the esteemed Director and Producer at MPT2S, is renowned for her
exceptional talent and inclusive approach in the carnival performing arts for over
20 years. Her ability to identify and nurture creative skills in others has resulted in
a passionate team that not only supports her vision but also actively contributes
to the growth and sustainability of MPT2S.
Together, they have brought together a diverse group of individuals ranging from
ages 8 to 60, from various backgrounds and beliefs, including the LGBTQ+,
migra’s and refugee community. These individuals have graced the stage of the
East Midlands, showcasing their dance routines and vibrant, handmade
costumes at numerous carnivals, festivals, celebrational and community events.
Maria’s talents extend beyond direction and production. She has choreographed
mesmerizing routines for theater productions and community workshops, creating
a visual spectacle that captivates audiences. Her innovative costume designs
add further depth and richness to these performances, enhancing their visual
appeal.
In addition to her work in theater and community events, Maria and her team
have been instrumental in developing art and dance therapy workshops for
schools and community centers. These workshops offer a creative outlet that
promotes mental well-being, cultivates a love for the arts, and fosters community
engagement.
Under Maria’s leadership, MPT2S continues to thrive. Her ability to bring together
diverse talents and her commitment to community engagement have created a
sustainable model for the organization. Maria Slack  diverse skill set, unwavering
dedication, and inclusive vision have made a significant impact across various
fields and communities, and her commendable work continues to inspire future
creative endeavors.

I have over 20 years of experience in choreographing, teaching dance, drama and managing projects for major events such as the Queen’s Jubilee, carnivals and theatre performances around the UK.

I moved to Derby and continued developing my creative skills and then began teaching GCSE dance at Merrill college. I also took various opportunities to teach at junior and secondary schools in the East Midlands. I delivered a performance that was shown at the royal assembly rooms called “to reach for the stars”.

I then moved on and began a dance group called “Scratch” who went on to open new community events in local area. The Scratch dance crew went onto winning carnival competitions of the best dancers on the possession and on stage. I have also taken part in delivering drama workshops.

I specialise in bringing people together to create and perform to a wide community. I am working with several theatre groups in varied capacities, acting, dance performances, choreography, and supporting community projects that are up and coming, roles all with the aim of encouraging, teaching and uniting people.

Creating opportunities for ALL.
